Digitalis thapsi, the Spanish Peaks Foxglove, is a
Foxglove from Spain growing to 1.5-2 feet tall. This is a
long-lived, true perennial foxglove with a branching
habit and so would make a permanent feature in a sunny
border.
A lovely smaller foxglove with pink flowers, very easy to
grow. Spanish Peaks foxglove will flower in late Spring
and early Summer and then repeat in the Fall. Although
similar to Digitalis purpurea var. purpurea in general
appearance, Digitalis thapsi plants are more compact,
have medium green foliage covered with yellowish,
glandular hairs and are perennial.
Hardiness zones 5-10, (-26°C/-15°F, 1°C/35°F) in
Winter. Prefers moist, organically rich, acidic soils. It
is more adapted to sunnier, drier conditions than the
common varieties. Digitalis thapsi likes full sun. Water
regularly; do not overwater.
