Daylilies are your best initial perennial plant
investment. Daylilies are easy to grow, healthy, long
lived garden plants and multiplying without much care.
Hemerocallis Stella d'Oro is a diploid Daylily growing to
6-12 inches tall. It is perfect for containers. The best
ever blooming Daylily and rebloomer.
If you want a Daylily that blooms from May into early
Fall, there is only one variety for you. Each plant
produces masses of prominent golden yellow ruffled
flowers, less then 3 inches across and slightly fragrant.
It is one of the earliest varieties to start blooming.
Flowers only last for a day, but each scape, or flower
stalk, has many buds that open in a series, giving you
beauty for not only days but months.
Hardiness zones 3-9, (-37ºC/-35ºF, -5ºC/25ºF). It
experiences dormancy. A dormant Daylily stops all
vegetative growth, sets resting buds in the crown, and
loses its leaves for the Winter, regardless of the
climate in which it is growing.
Daylilies will grow well in almost any soil, the best
performance will occur in soil that is high in organic
matter, drains well and has a neutral pH. Since it is
such a prolific flower producer, Stella d'Oro likes to be
fed with a complete and balanced fertilizer every four to
six weeks. Water frequently, but not too generously at
one time. Except in extreme soggy situations, extra water
means more blooms and a longer season of bloom. Place in
direct to indirect sun light. For the best blooming,
plant in an area that receives 6 hours of sun per day.
