to November. The flowers are hermaphrodite, they have
both male and female organs, and are pollinated by bees. The
flowers diffuse a delicious sweet perfume.
Hardiness zones 5-9, (-26°C/-15°F, -5°C/25°F) in
Winter. Bulbs grow best in areas of moderate Winter
temperature, in the 30's to about zero. Success can also
be experienced in colder climates where there is a
reliable snow cover or where mulch has been applied after
the ground begins to freeze in the Fall. Sprouts survive
most Winters with additional protection. Light frost
usually does no harm. In a warm climate the plant grows
continually and will grow happily in pots in a
conservatory. Use a well-drained soil, rich in organic
matter with a soil pH slightly acidic to neutral. Water
regularly; do not overwater and do not allow the soil to
dry out. This Lily will tolerate sun to partial shade.
