Product Description

Calceolaria integrifolia, called the Lady’s Slipper, is native of Chile and Argentina. This plant will grow to a height of 50 cm. It makes an excellent interior plant and flourishes for a long time.

The Calceolaria will bear beautiful bright yellow flowers for about 7 weeks, from the middle of spring to the end of summer. It is an annual plant, which means that it dies after summer. The flowers are inodorant and come in grapes at the top of the stems. The flowers actually look like small slippers. The fresh green leaves are cordiform and measure 20 cm long. They grow in rosettes at the base of the stems. Each stem measures from 30 to 60 cm high.

Hardiness zones 8-9 (-8°C/15°F, -5°C/25°F) in winter. Calceolaria integrifolia needs a good aeration. It will only flower when the temperature is higher than 15°C. Don’t expose the plant to temperatures below 0°C. It doesn’t grow too well during the hottest months of the year. Water regularly to keep the soil moist.

germination Use a well-drained, sand or clay soil. Plant the seeds in surface and maintain a humid soil, with a good light. Water regularly, the soil must always be moist. Light and a low temperature 15°C, is essential for germination. During growth, use a fertilizer twice a month. Do not place the plant under a direct sun. This plant is fast to grow, but germination could take more time, don’t get discouraged.
