Digitalis thapsi, the Spanish Peaks Foxglove, is a Foxglove from Spain growing to 1.5-2 feet tall. This is a long-lived, true perennial foxglove with a branching habit and so would make a permanent feature in a sunny border. A lovely smaller foxglove with pink flowers, very easy to grow. Spanish Peaks foxglove will flower in late Spring and early Summer and then repeat in the Fall. Although similar to Digitalis purpurea var. purpurea in general appearance, Digitalis thapsi plants are more compact, have medium green foliage covered with yellowish, glandular hairs and are perennial. Hardiness zones 5-10, (-26°C/-15°F, 1°C/35°F) in Winter. Prefers moist, organically rich, acidic soils. It is more adapted to sunnier, drier conditions than the common varieties. Digitalis thapsi likes full sun. Water regularly; do not overwater.

Germination Easy to grow from seed started indoors a month before the last frost. Place seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Keep a temperature of 65-75°F. Light aids germination. The seeds should germination in 14-21 days, it can be more, don't give up.
