Kleinia neriifolia, also known as Senecio Kleinia, Verode or Berode, is a succulent plant native to Canary Islands. Kleinia neriifolia grows in semiarid to arid habitats and grows well in a rich and well drained soil. The plant grows up to 1,5 meter high.
It is often cultivated as a houseplant and as landscaping.
Kleinia neriifolia has thick, articulated, fork like branches.
Its leaves are clustered in crowded rosettes at the tops of the branches. They are 9-15 cm long.
Kleinia neriifolia has slightly fragrant crŠme to pale yellow flower. The flowers bloom at the end of the dry period between August and October but it can also bloom at any time between March and November given the right conditions.
The fruit has a conspicuous feathery pappus attached that functions as a "parachute" which enables the seed to be carried by the wind.
Watering:
Water sparingly from March until October so long as the plant pot is allowed to drain and not sit in a tray of water (It rots easily, especially if over wet), and also needs to be avoided wetting the body of this plant while it is in sunlight. Let dry between watering. From July watering should be reduced to force the plant to go into a state of semi dormancy, by September onward the plant will begin to grow and watering should be increased gradually until late November when the plant should be in full growth.
Hardiness zone: 9-11
