Lilium Trumpet and Aurelian
This is a mix of Trumpets and Aurelians hybrids. These perennials can reach 4-6 feet tall. Trumpet and Aurelian cultivars are highly fragrant. In the garden they are wonderful with imposing height and perfume. To some people, no Lily is a real Lily unless it is a Trumpet. A Trumpet Lily is like no other plant in the garden, tall, stately, serene and magnificent with huge waxy flowers full of fragrance. Not only of pure glistening white, but bright gold, yellow, chartreuse, pink, plum, and apricot. Trumpets and Aurelians bloom in mid to late season. The flowers are hermaphrodite, they have both male and female organs. Deciduous foliage. This group of Lily will generally produce the largest bulbs in the Lilium family. Lily bulbs never go fully dormant, so they must be treated carefully. Hardiness zones 5-9, (-26øC/-15øF, -5øC/25øF) in Winter. Bulbs grow best in areas of moderate Winter temperature, in the 30's to about zero. Success can also be experienced in colder climates where there is a reliable snow cover or where mulch has been applied after the ground begins to freeze in the Fall. Sprouts survive most Winters with additional protection. Light frost usually does no harm. Use a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter with a soil pH slightly acidic to neutral. Water regularly; do not overwater and do not allow the soil to dry out. This Lily will tolerate sun to partial shade.

Species Lilium
Cultivar Trumpet and Aurelian
Germination This Lilium has immediate epigeal germination, they are easy warm germinators. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep and keep moist. A plastic sandwich bag placed loosely over each pot will keep moisture in and cut down maintenance for a few weeks. Place in warm temperature, 70-75øF, germination will start at about 3-12 weeks. Lily seeds are not difficult to germinate indoors and to grow under lights. The most important requirement for the planting mix is drainage while retaining moisture. Use a combination of sand, soil, vermiculite, perlite and whatever organic matter is at hand to produce a light, airy mix which retains moisture but allows good drainage.
