Usage thérapeutique | The juice of the roots is an effective antidote in cases of arsenic poisoning. The root also has a folk history of use in the treatment of cancer - extracts from the roots have shown antitumor activity. A tea made from the boiled roots is used as a diuretic. |
Germination | Hemerocallis minor seeds need cold stratification before germination. Hemerocallis minor seeds will usually germinate in 21-49 days. Sow Hemerocallis minor seeds about 13mm deep in a well-drained seed sowing mix at about 15-20øC. |
Scarification / Stratification | Seeds can be stratified in dampened peat or sand, in a plastic box or bag at 4øC or 5øC in a refrigerator for a period of 6 weeks. The seeds should not be frozen or in a wet medium. Very small seeds can be sown on the surface of their growing medium, in pots sealed in plastic bags, and kept in the fridge. |
