Details
Nolina nelsonii (known as Blue Nolina or Nelson's Bear Grass) is a drought-tolerant succulent native to the deserts and regions in northern/northeastern Mexico. It is known to be cold-hardy. However, like many succulents, winter wet is an enemy when combined with cold. Nolina nelsonii requires low maintenance. The foliage has a beautiful color. The bluish-green leaves, with tiny serrations on the edges, are borne in dense rosettes. They are about 60-90 cm long. The fruit capsules are around 80 mm in length, containing light-brown, spherical to oblong seeds 2?3 mm in diameter. It requires full sun or a little shade in extremely fast draining soil. Nolina nelsonii doesn?t require water once planted out. Rarely flowers except on very old specimens. Thousands of tiny white flowers bloom on a 4-foot stalk on mature clumps. Nolina nelsonii is quick growing. A 6 year old plant will reach 1 to 1,25m in diameter. Hardiness zone: 8-10
