Bush Anemone (Carpenteria californica) is a rare evergreen shrub native to the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. Renowned for its stunning bloom, it produces large, fragrant white flowers with golden stamens in late spring.
Typically growing between 1.5 and 3 meters tall, it has a dense, rounded form with smooth, peeling bark and glossy dark green foliage. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and thrives in well-drained soil with sun to partial shade.
Highly valued in ornamental and native gardens, Bush Anemone is also botanically unique as one of the few monotypic genera within the Hydrangea family (Hydrangeaceae).
