Etlingera venusta is a close relative of Torch Ginger Etlingera Elatior. Sometimes called, the world's most beautiful Ginger. A very rare new variety from Malaysia, it's strikingly unsurpassed beauty is almost beyond words.
His cerise shaped overlapping bracts create a rose shaped flowered inflorescence. Etlingera venusta has a lovely porcelain pink and white basal inflorescences from 1-2 feet tall. The pink and white "petals" are actually bracts, which later reveal small true flowers inside. Attractive in the garden and as an exotic and long lasting cut flower. Blooms from January to May.
Hardiness zones 9-11, (5§C/40§F, -5§C/25§F) in Winter. Not frost or cold tolerant. Very easy to grow. Grow in partial sun, light to medium shade. Leaves will burn under hot conditions if adequate water is not provided. Requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between waterings. Water freely and feed monthly in growing season. Likes rich and well-drained soil, high in organic matter.
