Digitalis 'Candy Mountain', also known as Candy Mountain Foxglove, is a stunning biennial plant prized for its elegant, tall spikes of tubular flowers in soft pastel shades. This variety of *Digitalis* brings a touch of charm and color to any garden with its beautiful blooms, ranging from pink to peach and white, making it a favorite for ornamental gardens, borders, and woodland settings.
Digitalis 'Candy Mountain' thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and prefers partial to full shade, making it an ideal plant for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or areas with filtered sunlight. It is also suitable for garden beds with other shade-loving plants like hostas, astilbes, and ferns, where its flowers will stand out as a highlight.
This plant requires moderate watering, especially during dry spells, but is relatively low-maintenance once established. It benefits from occasional deadheading to encourage more blooms and to keep the plant looking tidy. It is important to note that *Digitalis 'Candy Mountain'* is a biennial, meaning it typically flowers in its second year, but it may self-seed to produce new plants for subsequent years.
In addition to its ornamental value, *Digitalis 'Candy Mountain'* is an excellent plant for attracting pollinators like bees and hummingbirds, making it a wonderful choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. It is also deer-resistant, making it a great option for gardens where deer may be an issue.
Overall, *Digitalis 'Candy Mountain'* is a beautiful and easy-to-grow plant that adds vertical interest and soft color to shaded areas of the garden. Its unique flowers, combined with its adaptability to various growing conditions, make it a perfect addition for gardeners looking to brighten up their landscapes with a touch of elegance.

Germination | The sowing period is from January to May. Sow the seeds on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost and place them at a temperature of 18-29C (65-85F). Lightly cover the seeds with vermiculite. Place them in a propagator or a sealed container inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 14-30 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination. Transplant the seedlings when they are large enough to handle into trays or in 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatize the plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks, before planting them outside, after all risk of frost has past, planting them 45-60cm (18-24in) apart. An early sowing will occasionally produce flowers in the same year. Germination can take longer. Be patient! |
