Echinops sphaerocephalus, commonly known as the Great Globe Thistle, is a perennial plant admired for its striking spherical blooms and architectural presence. This hardy plant grows up to 1.5 meters tall (5 feet), with spiny, silvery-green leaves and round, blue or white flower heads that can reach up to 5 centimeters (2 inches) in diameter. Blooming in mid to late summer, it is a magnet for bees and butterflies, making it perfect for pollinator-friendly gardens. Tolerant of poor soils and drought, this low-maintenance plant adds texture and color to borders and wildflower gardens.
