Each pendulous flower will show beautiful shades of sunset colors including amber, beige-brown, burnt orange and red, from late Spring to mid-Summer. This vivid subshrub produces flowers 1.5" long, that last at least a month. The upright woody stems and lily-like leaves are also ornamental. The willow-like foliage is grey-green, narrow and linear. Leaves are produced in the first year and the tall spikes of flowers the second year. Hardiness zones 5-9, (-26°C/-15°F, -5°C/25°F) in Winter. Digitalis obscura grows in full or partial sun in lean to average garden soils, not too much compost, and water deeply but not too frequently.
