Echinacea Angustifolia is a perennial that belong to the Asteraceae family. It is native from eastern North America. The roots and herb use is known in enhancing the immune system. It has been recommended for the treatment of the common cold. However, the plant is used for ornamental purposes. It flowers from July to August. Echinacea Angustifolia grows 16 to 28 in tall. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers dry or moist soil. Echinacea Angustifolia is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil.

Therapeutic uses Echinacea has been used for virus infections such as the common cold and flu. It is used to strengthen the immune system. It has also been used for returning vaginal fungal infections ("yeast infections") along with antifungal products applied to the vaginal area.
Germination After stratifying, expose flats or pots to warmer temperatures to allow for emergence of the seedlings. Germination generally occurs ten to twenty days after the stratification process.
Scarification / Stratification Requires light and cold stratification (pre-chilling) for seed germination. Using deep containers to allow for good root development, fill with a prepared soil mix, and plant seeds in flats or pots, barely covering the seed with soil. Moisten, cover, and refrigerate at 40-50 degrees F.
E. angustifolia requires at least twenty-one days of cold stratification.
