The tulip tree, a lily tree, is a leafy tree of the family Magnoliaceae native to the south and east of the United States.
This tulip tree can reach 50 to 60 m and can live there up to 500 years. Its trunk can reach 2 or 3 meters in diameter.
Its range extends from Arkansas and Alabama to Michigan, New York and southern Canada. It grows in well-drained soils of river basins and avoids soils that are too calcareous.
